Standards-Based Curriculum is a cornerstone of my Educational Philosophy. An attempt has been made to follow the chronological structure of the Honors 9 World History and World Literature course standards. However, I have deviated in certain areas in order to incorporate models based on the most recent scholarship in the field of world studies. Also, I attempted to develop a more global perspective than is currently represented in the existing standards.

Honors 9 World History and Literature

The following standards developed by the National Center for History in the Schools present a global-view of world history based on up-to-date research in the field: The National Standards for History (Eras 1-5 and part of 6). Also, see McREL's World History Standards.

Era 1: The Beginnings of Human Society	Era 3: Classical Traditions, Major Religions, and Giant Empires, 1000 BCE-300 CE
Era 2: Early Civilizations and the Emergence of Pastoral Peoples, 4000-1000 BCE	Era 4: Expanding Zones of Exchange and Encounter, 300-1000 CE
